Carpe
Noctem, Let’s Seize the Nights:
Cuz
Cool Kids Never Sleep...
The phrase
"Carpe Noctem", which is Latin terminology translated as “Seize the Night”, in the English spoken world. This, too,
reminds me of someone who has become a very special and very platonic person to
me, "B", resulting in a tight bond that usually ever really exists
within the sibling relationship, which carries with it a deep love, loyalty to
one another, safely shared secrets that would likely go to the grave with them,
along with intense protective instincts; However those individuals in the
sibling relationship will still experience anger, jealousy, guilt, pain, frustration
or any other negative emotion about said counterpart, creating an intense and
usually very complicated relationship. My complicated and intense relationship
has been forged over the grief I have personally experienced from the loss of
my baby brother tragically in June of 2013, and a personal loss he suffered
earlier in life. Branden Jackson,
myself, Miss Lexy Lou, and my handsome, incredible, and often frustrating
husband, Raymond Hurt Jr. have
all suffered from different painful burdens that life often throws down and
have adopted a new mantra that isn't all about rules, following the leader, or
even considering a tomorrow, let alone a future with such an enormity as that
of "Eternity", that organized religions often urge. Instead let’s start
doing whatever the hell it is that is going to make you happy most of the time,
and do as little as possible that we consider “work”. We aren't promised
any specific duration of time and consider it a lifetime and begin appreciating
those in which we love, cherish, or even just “put
up with” because the law says we have to or we have
a love, devotion, and loyalty. This quote is dedicated, not only to Branden,
and Raymond “Junior”, but also to the late (and absolutely amazing
and brilliant) Dr. John David Enke, my young brother who left long before his
time but has forged Branden and my clanship, to close with another who left
much too soon:
”Nothing lasts forever...So live it up, drink
it down, laugh it off, avoid the drama, take chances, and never have regrets;
Because at one point, everything you did was exactly what you wanted.” –Marilyn
Monroe
