Lexy and Her "Bestie" and now Mother-in-Law, Deb at her Wedding Reception in August 2013 |
It has been crazy lately, but I have had the chance to catch up with five old friends I haven't heard from in ages. First I talked to Tim, whom I've known since the second grade and went to school with through our sophomore year of high school when my family moved. Then I talked to my ex-brother-in-law, Troy-Boy, whom I had been close to and known even before I met my ex-husband. Then I was in the doctors office going about my business, getting my blood pressure taken, actually, and my ex-husband was calling, and I hadn't heard from him in probably six months to a year. When I called him back we caught up for over two hours discussing our families, second marriages, the not-so-"good old days", and our fantastic daughters. Then I received an IM on facebook from MJ, a guy who at one time was probably my husbands best friends, just catching up since I hadn't seen him in months. Then at the same time I received an IM on facebook from a very old friend, Fred, whom I hadn't seen since shortly after the death of my brother, in June of last year. Eventually we talked on the phone for a half hour, gossiping and catching up on each others lives, both good and bad. The point of the point of this post is how people seem to come and go in our lives, and it seems so easy to lose touch if we let ourselves.
